Blog Map Test

June 7, 2008

WordPress is kind of lame in that it doesn’t let you put javascript or iframes into your posts. That leaves a lot of people out in the cold, unable to embed cool things like the Blogabond Travel Map.

This is a test to see if the new version of that travel map works:

You can get one of these over at Blogabond. Here is the code you’ll end up including in your Blog:

Thinking about Launching

February 1, 2007

I’ve been giving some thought to doing a formal Launch for Blogabond, and that means PR. I’ve never given much thought about publicizing the site, and had always just relied on word of mouth to attract new users. Thus far it’s worked pretty well, leaving us with a good sized community of like-minded independent travelers.

So today, I put together a rudimentary press kit for Blogabond, and sent out a few tentative emails to bloggers that might be interested in reviewing the site. I’m still in favor of growing slowly and steadilly, but now I think we’re solid enough to bump up the traffic a bit.

We’ll see what happens!

What you’ll find here

January 18, 2007

I’m hoping to use this space for a bit of meta-discussion about Blogabond. That’s a site I’ve been building in my spare time for about a year now, where you can get a Travel Blog for yourself, assimilate yourself into our Independent Travel Community, or just dig around on our Blog Maps.

Hope this gives some insight into the process of building a community website.
